SUMMARY:Portland CROP Hunger Walk
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, EMO’s Northeast Emergency Food Program (NEFP) joins with local partners to host the Portland CROP Hunger Walk. This is a worldwide initiative of Church World Service. \nNo one in this world should be hungry. That’s why the CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people in a place. We’re part of a movement\, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them — and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world. \nPlease join us in the fight against hunger! The steps we take and funds we raise will make a difference in the lives of others. \nAbout the CROP Hunger Walk: If we work together\, we can end world hunger. That’s why we’re participating in the 2026 CROP Hunger Walk to support Church World Service (CWS) and help families who are struggling with hunger. Please join us with your steps and your donations. Together we will provide more meals for the growing number of people in our community who need them and create greater food security in communities around the world. \nNortheast Emergency Food Program and the CROP Hunger Walk: Through this partnership\, 25 percent of donations to the Portland CROP walk go directly to EMO’s food pantry\, allowing us to feed more families in our community. It’s a wonderful\, family-friendly way to help us fight hunger\, reduce food insecurity\, increase economic stability and work together. Please join us for the 3-mile walk on April 19 and encourage those who can’t join us to support you with a donation! \n\nSIGN UP NOW \nWant to help spread the word about the CROP Walk? SUMMARY:2026 Collins Lecture with John Fugelsang
DESCRIPTION:John Fugelsang is an actor\, comedian and host of “Tell Me Everything” on SiriusXM Progress. He is also the author of New York Times bestseller\, “Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person’s Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists\, Fascists and Flock-Fleecing Frauds.” \nFugelsang uses humor and biblical scholarship to challenge far-right Christian ideologies\, such as Christian nationalism\, and argues for a return to the core teachings of Jesus–love\, mercy and service. He provides a toolbox for responding to Christian nationalism on the biggest issues that divide us today: immigration\, LGBTQIA2S+ rights\, poverty\, gun safety\, feminism\, the death penalty\, and more. \nIf you want to learn directly from John Fugelsang about his approach to using the scripture and Jesus’ teachings to challenge Christian nationalism and authoritarianism\, join us at the 2026 Collins Lecture for “A Conversation on the Separation of Church and Hate.” \nSaturday\, June 6 | 7 p.m.\nTrinity Episcopal Cathedral\, 147 NW 19th Ave.\, Portland\, Ore.
