PURPOSE: Support the fund and development of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon by assisting with foundation, corporate and government grant proposals, reports and research.
ACCOUNTABILITY: To the mission and goals of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) as determined by the Board of Directors, and as administered by the President and their delegates.
REPORTS TO: Grants Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None
LOCATION: Hybrid in person/remote
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, 40 hours per week
BENEFITS: Salary starts at $23.85. All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, 401(k) retirement plan, employee assistance program and employee trainings. Employees in exempt positions or non-exempt positions that are 20 hours per week or more, also receive medical, dental, disability and life insurance, per eligibility requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work alongside Grants Manager in managing a portfolio of roughly 40 active foundations, corporate, and government grants.
- Collaborate with program and organizational leaders in writing grants, applications, and building proposal budgets.
- Research and monitor new opportunities for program funding through foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Maintain internal systems for tracking progress and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work within the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO. EMO requires all staff in this position to be vaccinated for the safety of our clients.
KNOWLEDGE: One to two years’ experience in research and writing grants; Knowledge of the foundation and corporate funding environment in Oregon; Understanding of the nonprofit structure and functions; Proficiency with Windows, Office 365, and Google Suite.
SKILLS: High level written and verbal communication skills; Strong administrative and organizational ability; Comfortable giving presentations.
EFFORT: Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor; Comfortable in a collaborative environment; High capacity in managing a variety of tasks.
RESPONSIBILITY: Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment; Self-motivated; Work independently as well as with a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to work in a respectful manner with people of diverse ethnicity, socio-economic circumstances, religion, culture and sexual orientation; High tolerance for ambiguity and change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in relevant field
Experience in writing successfully funded grants valued in excess of $50,000
Experience with fund management software and portal grants
Knowledge and understanding of the faith community
