Interfaith Earth Summit: Re-Connect, Re-Imagine, Re-New

May 17 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Save the Date: Join us on a joyful journey to Re-Connect, Re-Imagine and Re-New, as we prepare for EMO’s 13th annual Interfaith Earth Summit on May 17 from 1 to 3 p.m.!

The Interfaith Earth Summit is an opportunity for people of faith and goodwill to gather locally around a shared care for our neighbors and the environment we all depend on. Through Zoom, we will connect our statewide community. For reference, here is last year’s web page and Zoom recording.

This year’s Earth Summit is an invitation to:

    • Re-Connect with people like you across Oregon who seek a safe, healthy, abundant and beautiful world for all.
    • Re-Imagine your community, resilient and thriving with nature.
    • Re-New your commitment to action, and find your place in the movement.

Registration will open on April 16 on this web page. Hub locations to date include Bend, Dallas, Eugene, La Grande, Pendleton, Portland, Salem and Tigard, with more hosts signing up! If you are interested in volunteering for the event or serving as a regional hub host, please complete this form: Earth Summit Interest Form!

As part of our Re-Imagine theme, we plan to facilitate a statewide art project: an Oregon Community Quilt. EMO staff, in partnership with local hosts and volunteers, will facilitate this creative time during the Earth Summit. Each Summit participant will be invited to draw, paint or craft one square in the quilt—and write a short story answering the question: “I / We have the right to … clean water, clean air, healthy food, etc.”

We will recruit volunteer photographers to digitize each square and submit it to EMO, where will bring all of the squares together into a work of art that reflects the beautiful diversity of our community. Our goal is to take the quilt on tour to inspire support for the people’s right to a safe and healthy environment. Ultimately, we will ask for the quilt to be displayed in the Oregon Capitol.
