The Role Religion and Religious Freedom Play in Building Harmony in Our Communities

The keynote speaker and distinguished panel members will give insights from their experiences in building bridges within their communities, especially with those whose beliefs are different. All human beings deserve to be treated with respect, love, and dignity. The fireside will explore how we resolve differences and build unity in our communities without compromising core values? “What does it look like to respectfully disagree and not destroy relationships?

We have seen in recent events conflicts over politics, fights with flight attendants, outrage in the media, worsening behavior in schools, temper tantrums over trivial slights. Living with deep differences and the restrictions of years of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic have frayed discourse and civic life in the United States. The panel will explore how we rebuild a more peaceful community and what role religion and religious freedom play in building harmony in our diverse communities.

Religious freedom has long depended on principles of pluralism and the idea of resolving differences without compromising core values. This fireside will explore what social benefits have come from religious coexistence, tolerance, and practical respect.

Free hybrid event; no prior registration required.
