First Christian Church in Portland will present three Forums in October. The public is
invited to the series called “Democracy is ALIVE, Know the ISSUES, and VOTE.” All forums
take place at 12:15 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall. The Forums are free of charge.

Oct. 6, “Through the Eyes of Our Neighbors: Issues affecting all of us.” Featuring Frank Afrangi, native Palestinian, community leader and peace activist; Jelani Greenidge, writer, pastor, hip-hop musician and stand-up comic; and Peggy Nagae, civil rights lawyer, diversity and inclusion consultant. Rev. Cynthia Dobson McBride will moderate the panel discussion and Q/A session. Optional lunch at 11:30 a.m. for $15; you may pay onsite by cash or check.
Oct. 13, “Clearing Up the Fog: Ballot measures explained.” An expert from the League
of Women Voters Speakers’ Bureau will discuss ballot measures on the City of Portland and
Oregon State Ballot.
Oct. 20, “Threats to Democracy: Christian Zionism and White Christian Nationalism.” Presented by The Rev. Dr. Rodney Page, Executive Director Emeritus of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon.
