The holiday classic Black Nativity by poet and playwright Langston Hughes returns to the Portland stage presented by PassinArt: A Theatre Company. This soul-stirring gospel song play features traditional Christmas carols sung in gospel style, with brand-new songs for the show, dance performances, and storytelling. Black Nativity premiered Off-Broadway on December 11, 1967. It was one of the first plays staged there written by an African American.
DATES/TIMES: Thursday and Friday performances on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday performances on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.
