Summer in the Forest Screening

June 23, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join us for a free screening of “Summer in the Forest,” a film about a L’Arche community in France, followed by a reception and panel discussion. The life and legacy of Jean Vanier, who passed away peacefully May 7, 2019, will also be celebrated.

About “Summer in the Forest”: Like countless others, Philippe, Michel, Andre and Patrick were labeled “idiots,” locked away and forgotten in violent asylums, until the 1960s, when the young philosopher Jean Vanier took a stand and secured their release – the first time in history that anyone had beaten the system. Together they created L’Arche, a commune at the edge of a beautiful forest near Paris. A quiet revolution was born.
