What We Do

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon is a statewide association of faith partners working together to improve the lives of Oregonians through public policy advocacy, direct service programs, creation justice, and ecumenical / interreligious education and dialogue.

For more than 50 years, EMO has advocated for the marginalized and serving those in need. Our unique approach brings together advocacy, education and direct service. Your support helps to further our work, providing groceries to those struggling with the economic hardships of inflation; addressing the basic needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS; housing unaccompanied high school students; providing immigration-related legal representation to refugees and immigrants throughout Oregon; and much more. In Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s (EMO) mission to bring together people of faith and goodwill to create a more just and sustainable Oregon, we are committed to advancing equity and empowering individuals at every level of our organization: staff, clients, board, supporters and volunteers. EMO recognizes that true equity requires racial and economic justice, the decolonization of land and resources, and dismantling the structural barriers that prevent many Oregonians from equal participation in our society. Our work addresses systemic inequality both downstream, through our direct service programs, as well as upstream, in public policy and advocacy, for lasting solutions to the most pressing issues in our communities.
