Development Coordinator

PURPOSE: Support fundraising events and other development needs for Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) with multiple programs addressing hunger, housing, health care, environmental justice, refugee and immigration services, and public policy advocacy.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Development

LOCATION: Majority in EMO’s central office with some remote possibility

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time (24 hour/week), non-exempt.  

BENEFITS: Salary range starting at $30.80 per hour. All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, 401(k) retirement plan, employee assistance program and employee trainings. Employees in exempt positions or non-exempt positions that are 18 hours per week or more, also receive medical insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance and life insurance, per eligibility requirements.

EMO has an organization-wide Pay Equity Plan (PEP). This PEP provides standardized increases to base pay for staff who have technical skills or specialized training beyond the minimum qualifications for a job, significant prior experience in similar roles, language skills relevant to the position, and/or who hold academic/professional degrees or certifications related to the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide logistical support for EMO fundraising and educational events.
  • Work with Executive Director and Director of Development to enact a comprehensive slate of events including Annual Gala, Collins Lecture, Interfaith Earth Summit and Interfaith Advocacy Day plus program-specific fundraising or friend-raising events.
  • Collaborate with Database and Development Coordinator to manage event registration and attendance records, and assist with Raisers’ Edge (RE) email communication before and after events.
  • Create and manage events using Greater Giving software (e.g., registration, auction items, donations, sponsorships, etc.).
  • Research, recommend, and book venues, caterers, and other vendors.
  • Work with Director of Development to procure auction items for events and raffles.
  • Provide staff support on the day of EMO events and coordinate other staff and volunteers as necessary (e.g., room set up, registration, food service, clean up). Manage event schedule and ensure that everything proceeds smoothly.
  • Coordinate with Director of Development to manage donor acknowledgements.
  • Crosstrain with Database and Development Coordinator to track financial contributions in Raisers’ Edge, work with the finance department to reconcile financial reports, create mailing lists, and provide coverage when Database/Development Coordinator is out of office.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong commitment to the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO.

Required:

  • At least one year of experience with Raiser’s Edge fund management software or similar relational database.
  • Strong understanding of best practices for event planning and event management.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Office 365, and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work well under pressure; handle multiple time-sensitive tasks; strong organizational skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of nonprofit organizational structures and functions.
  • Comfortable giving presentations.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Greater Giving event planning software.
  • Experience leading teams of staff and volunteers in the planning and implementation of special events, especially fundraising events.
  • College degree in relevant field.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge of human services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of faith communities in Oregon.
