You are invited to attend a performance of Mother of Exiles by the Resonance Ensemble.
The Mother of Exiles Project is seeking support to help give voice to people around the world who are in need of asylum. Portland Composer Theresa Koon has adapted Emma Lazarus’ famous poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in an anthem for choir that will soon be heard around the world. Mother of Exiles will be recorded in Prague in December 2019 and released by PARMA Recordings in Spring 2020.
Many of us don’t have the temperament to run for public office or knock on doors. This project is the composer’s way of using music to honor the needs of people who have been dishonored around the world.
