2019 Ending Oregon Hunger Conference
September 19 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon will join the Muslim Educational Trust and the Oregon-based International Food Security Treaty (IFST) Association in presenting the 2019 Oregon Ending Hunger Conference, which will address solutions to the problem of here and abroad.
The keynote address by IFST Association founding director John Teton will describe the International Food Security Treaty, a global pact that could catalyze the eradication of hunger worldwide by placing the human right of freedom from hunger under the protection of enforceable international human rights law (see treaty.org). Similar presentations of the IFST have taken place at many major universities, as an accompaniment to the annual plenary session of the United Nations Committee on World Food Security in Rome, and five times on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The event will include a screening of Thunder Head Clearing, the award-winning animated short film about the IFST. It will be followed by a discussion with the audience featuring a panel with representatives from several other anti-hunger programs based in Oregon.
The conference is free and pre-registration is not required. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m., and the conference is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
