Regional Coordinator (E. Multnomah & N. Clackamas Counties)

PURPOSE: Second Home, a program of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO), is a community effort to provide safe and stable housing for unaccompanied students, so they can focus on their studies, explore their gifts and talents, graduate from high school, and realize their goals and dreams for their life. The Regional Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the operations of the East Multnomah and North Clackamas Counties Second Home program.  

ACCOUNTABILITY: To the mission and goals of EMO as determined by the Board of Directors, and as administered by the Executive Director and their delegates.

REPORTS TO: Second Home Program Director

DIRECT REPORTS: None

LOCATION: East Multnomah and Clackamas Counties; some work may be done from home.

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Non-exempt.

BENEFITS: Salary range starts at $23.94 hourly. All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, 401(k) retirement plan, employee assistance program and employee trainings. Employees in exempt positions or non-exempt positions that are 20 hours per week or more, also receive medical insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance and life insurance, per eligibility requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Communicate effectively and regularly with Students, Home Providers, Second Home Program Director, School District McKinney-Vento staff, and district counselors and social workers, East County Resolutions and Clackamas County Resolution Services staff, and community organizations for outreach.
  2. Initiate and contribute to grant writing and fundraising activities.
  3. Collaborate with partners in strategic planning and program development.
  4. Act as support to students, checking in with them regularly and connecting them to needed resources.
  5. Conduct interviews of potential students.
  6. Maintain financial and client-based records.
  7. Provide community outreach through speaking engagements/presentations, online and print publicity, social media, radio, etc.
  8. Communicate regularly with Program Director and Second Home team to provide/receive updates on expansion work and to ensure thorough program coverage amongst all team members.
  9. Support work of home provider recruiters, as needed.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work within the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO.

KNOWLEDGE: Degree in Social Work or two years of experience in the field; Training in trauma-informed care.

SKILLS: Able to work independently while maintaining a close relationship with team, supervisor and co-workers; Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen to and affirm people from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances; Treat all individuals with respect and dignity; Comfortable working with teenagers; Comfortable in a supervisory role.

EFFORT: High level of organization and prioritization skills; Candidate must have access to reliable transportation to scattered work sites.

RESPONSIBILITY: Experience and comfort working with clients at off site locations (for example: home visits, site visits, etc.); Self starter.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to work in a respectful manner with people of diverse ethnicity, socio-economic circumstances, religion, culture and sexual orientation; Available some weekends/evenings; Available to work in East Multnomah and Clackamas Counties.

Familiar with social media.

Familiar with the policies and processes of the specified school districts.
